Kihei: A haven for coastal living
Kihei is often described as the heartbeat and cultural hub of South Maui, a vibrant oasis that welcomes everyone to partake in the joys of coastal lifestyle. Located on one of the most arid parts of the island, Kihei is a dry, tropical paradise that receives less than 10 inches of rain every year.
With its abundance of sunshine, pristine shoreline, and good times, there are many reasons why Kihei is so popular. In fact at the start of the millennium, this was amongst the fastest growing towns in the entire country!

The entire area of Kihei spans more than 6 miles and is divided into three main portions that each have their own unique character. North Kihei starts at Sugar Beach, which by most measures is the longest continuous stretch of sand on Maui and home to the Kihei Outrigger Canoe Club. This part of town is less densely populated than the South, mainly a mixture of single-family homes and low-rise condominium complexes.
Central Kihei is home to a fabulous aquatic center and to the area’s largest retail locations, Pi’ilani Village Shopping Center as well as the Azeka Shopping Centers. Here in the middle of Kihei is also Halama Street, with many oceanfront homes, where our team leader Dano lived and raised the next generation of the Sayles Team (Anthony and Alex) for many years!
South Kihei is often considered to start at Kalama Park which arguably has the best recreational grounds and facilities on the island. This section of Kihei has an abundance of excellent beaches, such as Keawakapu and Charley Young Beach, as well a great selection of oceanfront condos such as Royal Mauian and Mana Kai.
